Hey there! I’m so glad you’re here. 😊
If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by finance jargon, frustrated by money mistakes, or just unsure about your next financial move, you’re not alone. I know because I’ve been there too.
Who Am I & Why Bytesize Finance?
I Never Thought I’d Be Starting Over at 30.
A few years ago, at 28, I went through one of the hardest times of my life—divorce. It wasn’t just emotionally draining; it completely upended my finances.
Before the divorce, my ex and I had investments, a beautiful three-bedroom apartment (that he kicked me out of), and a business I had helped him build. I moved out in the middle of a COVID lockdown, scrambling to find a place to live. I had my own savings, but for the next two years, I lived paycheck to paycheck, struggling to cover rent and expenses after paying nearly $80,000 in divorce lawyer fees.
By the time my divorce was finalised at 30, I walked away with only 20% of the asset split—a fraction of what we had built together. On paper, I still had a $900,000 net worth, but in reality? I felt like I had lost everything.
💭 The financial future I had planned for? Gone.
💭 The security I once had? Shattered.
💭 And worst of all, I had no idea how to rebuild.
I recognise that $900,000 is a lot of money, but when it’s only a fifth of what I had before, it doesn’t feel like a win. I felt like I was starting from scratch.
How I Took Back Control
For the first time, it was all on me. No shared finances. No dual income. No one to make money decisions with.
I wish I could say I had a perfect plan. I didn’t. I was scared, overwhelmed, and constantly second-guessing myself.
But here’s what I did know: I wasn’t going to let this define me.
I hired a Financial Advisor—not because I didn’t know anything about money, but because I wanted to do it better this time. Best decision I ever made. They didn’t just help me recover; they educated me, empowering me to take control of my financial future.
I focused on growing wealth instead of just saving—because I realised that cutting back wasn’t the answer. Smart investing, tax strategies, and using debt wisely were.
I prioritised financial moves with the biggest impact. I learned to play the financial game smarter, not harder.
Fast forward to today, 1.5 years after my divorce was settled—
✅ I’ve grown my net worth to $1.3 million.
✅ I own my home, invest consistently, and have a financial strategy that works.
✅ I feel completely in control of my money.
But what really excites me? Sharing what I’ve learned— the real, no-BS strategies that made the biggest difference. The money moves that actually helped me get ahead, including some of the best-kept financial secrets the ATO probably doesn’t want you to know.
That’s why I started Bytesize Finance.
Because I know what it’s like to feel lost with money. I also know how powerful it is when you take back control.
This is the resource I wish I had when I was rebuilding.

How I Rebuilt Smarter (And What You Can Learn From It)
When I was forced to start over, I had two choices:
❌ Play it safe. Buy a house, be debt-free, call it a day.
✅ Or use everything I had learned to make my money work harder.
I chose the second.
I invested aggressively. While many fear the stock market, I leaned into it. Dollar-cost averaging into ETFs like VDHG became my superpower.
I used debt to my advantage. Instead of avoiding debt, I learned how to use it strategically, making sure every dollar worked for me.
I structured my finances like a system. Money flows into different accounts with clear purposes—some for bills, some for investing, some for pure fun (because what’s the point of money if you can’t enjoy life?).
I prioritised high-impact financial moves. Tax planning, investing, and compounding interest over time beat any extreme budgeting strategy.
💡 Biggest lesson? You don’t need to be perfect with money. You just need a plan that works for you.
Everything Here Is Free (For Now).
Right now, every post, every insight, and every strategy I share is completely free. Because I want to build a community that values financial independence and smart money moves.
